Top 5 Travel Destinations | 2017

Me in Isla Mujeres, Mexico in September 2016

2017, I am so excited to welcome you! When it comes to a New Year, I use to be a huge fan of resolutions but now I like to make mission statements and set smaller more realistic goals that I know I will hit. Usually, six months into a New Year resolutions start to dissipate.

For me, it’s better to keep a mission for the year and just hold on to that vision and see where it takes me. At the top of my list this year is traveling more. I feel that is always on most lists, but for me, I feel as though I’ve fallen off my travel commitment a bit. 2014 was one of my best travel years yet! I took this incredible trip to Greece, one that I will never forget. 2015, wasn’t great, but I still got out the country to visit Jamaica. 2016, again, not remarkable but still left the country and saw Mexico for the first time. I’m a big believer in international traveling as it pushes you to see new cultures and try new things outside of your comfort zone. This year, I’m being a bit ambitious with my travel plans and goals, but I have faith that I’ll at least get through half of my wish list.

Ok, enough chatting, here goes!

1. Barcelona, Spain

This destination is actually already locked and loaded. The flights are booked and we just need to solidify lodging. I absolutely cannot wait to visit Spain. I’ve heard nothing but great things about this location. We are going during the most popular time of year in July. This will be a true treat!

2. Bali, Indonesia

I’ve always had this destination on my list ever since I saw the movie, Eat, Pray, Love. I loved that Julia Roberts (in the movie) visited this destination to get her love and her peace of mind. It looks like such a tranquil and beautiful destination and according to Forbes.com, one of the most budget friendly travel destinations to visit in 2017.

3. Turks & Caicos

I’m literally obsessed with the Caribbean. I get lost in photos of the beautiful white sandy beaches and crystal clear water. I was born in Jamaica, and though I love my country, I know there are so many other places in the Caribbean to visit. Turks  & Caicos has been on my mind a lot lately. I am obsessed with this destination and want to make it a priority to get there this year!

4. Amalfi Coast, Italy

Now, on every travel list you have your reach destination. I’m defintly reaching with this one, as this is more of a honeymoon type destination in a lot of people’s minds. But, I have the philosophy of why wait what it comes to a lot things. I believe you should go places while you can and when the opportunity presents itself. This destination was on my list a couple years ago and I didn’t make it there. I would love to go to the Amalfi Coast during the summer to see the beauty of it all. Let’s see if I can make it happen.

5. Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

My boyfriend and I actually made it to Mexico last September. We went for our 3 year anniversary. I should have done more research on Mexico and chose Cabo as our destination instead of Cancun. Though we had a blast, I did have a couple regrets as I saw how beautiful Cabo was toward the end of the year when it seemed like my entire Instagram timeline had went on holiday there lol! We do have the opportunity to go to Cabo this year in September for friends 30th birthday, so hoping we are able to confirm that get the details squared away.

This is my travel list so far, but I’m also looking to explore my country domestically and visiting a few places such as Arizona to see the canyons and New Orleans for the food and jazz and Charleston for the food and charm.

Here’s to a prosperous and adventure filled 2017. Are there any destinations that you have in mind for the new year? Please share them with me below. I’m always looking for inspiration for my next trip.

I absolutely love your list. I definitely have bit travel plans for the year including both international and national travel. On my list is a return to Miami, Chicago, Trinidad and Bahamas. I'm really looking forward to taking my husband and son to Trinidad. Neither of them have ever been there. I'm a first generation American with most of my family still in Trinidad. My husband and I got married in the Bahamas almost four years ago, so we are hoping to leave the baby at home and enjoy a romantic getaway to the Bahamas.
