Shrimp and Pork Dumplings

Tender ground pork and chopped shrimp and wonton wrappers make up this easy and authentic Chinese-inspired dumpling recipe.

Ingredients

  • 20-25 small Wonton wrappers
  • 1/2 lb Ground pork
  • 6 large shrimp, chopped
  • 1 Large egg
  • 1 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup Green onion, sliced
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Chicken bouillon
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • Water for closing the dumplings. Have a small bowl to dip your fingers in.

For Dipping Sauce

  • 1 tbsp Garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Ginger, minced
  • 3 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 tsp Fish sauce
  • 1 tsp Brown Sugar
  • pinch Red pepper flakes
  • 1 tbsp Hot oil
  • 1 tbsp Hot Water
  • Salt + Pepper to taste
  • fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • First, in a bowl,add ground pork, chopped shrimp, green onion, seasoning, egg, oil and splash of water.
  • Mix well with a spoon for about 5 minutes until a sticky, pasty mixture is formed
  • Cut wonton wrappers into 4 even squares if they are large and add about a tbsp of meat mixture to the center of the wrapper
  • Use your finger tip to add water to the sides of the wonton wrapper and then fold the wrapper into a triangle (covering the meat) and then bring the sides together to make the dumpling shape
  • Bring a large stockpot of water to a boil and cook dumplings for 10 minutes. Dumplings are done when they start floating to the top of the water and tighten up in appearance.
  • Remove dumplings from water and set aside and make dumpling sauce

For dumpling sauce

  • In a sauce bowl, add minced garlic and ginger, soy sauce, fish sauce, brown sugar, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, hot oil and water. Mix well to combine.

To aseemble dumplings

  • Assemble dumplings in a shallow bowl, garnish with parsley and pour as much of the sauce over the dumplings as you like. Serve hot and enjoy.
