inside scoop on her natural hair journey below…check it out!
NB: Introduce yourself
Hi!
My name is Andrea Lewis
NB: What is your occupation?
I’m
an actress/singer/filmmaker/blogger
NB: Song that describes your natural hair & personality
End
of Time – Beyonce
NB: Finish the following statement: “Natural hair makes me feel…”
“Natural
Hair makes me feel beautiful!”
NB:Have
you always been natural? If not, when did you transition from relaxed to natural?
I’ve
always been natural

NB:What’s
been the most challenging part of being natural?
Not
using heat lol. It’s easy for me to straighten my hair or make every curl
perfect with a curling iron but heat damage is not cool so I just have to let
it be!
NB:What
are your go to natural hair products?
Right
now I use Mixed Chicks Deep Conditioner and Leave-in and Kyra’s Ultimate Mango
Leave-in.
NB:Describe
your personal style & where you seek your style inspiration.
My
style is a “classic wild girl” I like simple pieces that can be worn
any time whether its the trend or not but at the same time I love bright colors
and patterns.
NB:What
do you do when having a bad hair day?
When
I’m having a bad hair day I put my hair in a high messy bun and try my best to
do a fancy tie or bow with a scarf. A scarf will save you when you’re having a
bad hair day.
NB: You have phenomenal skin…what’s your beauty secret?
Thank
you! I drink a lot of water and I drink green smoothies (spinach, kale and any
kind of fruit) every morning and it does wonders for my skin.
NB: With your busy schedule, how do you manage your hair? Do you have a stylist?
I
try my best to manage my hair myself, I’ve traveled a lot over the last 5 years
and I’ve lived in 3 different cities so it’s been hard for me to have a
“go-to” stylists so I read a lot of hair blogs (including this one)
and I try my best to go for trims, give my hair treatments and maintain good
health.
NB: Have you experienced any resistance to your natural hair from men? Do they embrace
it or fight it?
When
I was a teenager and my early 20’s natural hair wasn’t “in” as much
as it is now and I found that guys I dated preferred my hair straight instead
of curly but now it’s the opposite, big natural curly hair has every man
breaking their neck!
NB: What is your favorite part about being natural?
The
best part of being natural is learning to be 100% comfortable being yourself.
It’s very liberating and exciting to be able to confidently say
“I love my
hair just the way it is”
NB: In what ways do you incorporate your personal sense of style into styling your natural
hair?
I love bright colors and patterns and that extends to my
love for hair accessories, I love finding tribal-ish scarfs or bows to add to
my hair, hair accessories are a great investment.
NB:
Craziest thing someone has said about your hair in the street….
“Your
hair looks like a fluffy poodle” …I think it was supposed to be a
compliment smh.
NB: Who is your celebrity natural hair crush?
It’s
a tie between Tracee Ellis Ross and Tanika Ray
NB: What inspires you to continue on your natural hair journey?
Like
I said before, there’s nothing better than being 100% comfortable being
yourself!
NB: Best natural hair advice you can offer someone who is transitioning.
There
is light at the end of the tunnel. Big chops and transitions will have many
times of being scary and very foreign but just remember there is light at the
end of the tunnel once that transition is over you’ll be a natural hair
queen!
NB: Tell me what makes you naturally glamorous.
I’m
happy and confident being me and the most glamorous thing a woman can own is a
positive attitude with a side of confidence 😉
NB:Tell
us what MAJOR projects you have coming up!
I’m
directing/writing and staring in my first web series, which will debut in the
fall. Continuing to grow and reach new heights with my site and brand
ThoseGirlsAreWild and I’ll be releasing new music later this year.
Thank you so much, Andrea! <3
