Words can not express how proud I am of 16-year-old Gabby Douglas for becoming to FIRST African American to win the Women’s Gymnastics All-Around for the USA!
According to USA Today, “The Flying Squirrel” embraced the pressure of
the Olympic moment, saying that she hopes her victory inspires her
followers:
“I hope that I inspire people,” Douglas said. “I want to inspire people. My mother said you can inspire a nation.”
What an inspiration she truly is! Forever an iconic Olympic GOLD medalist for years to come.
And HUGE side eye/mean mug face to everyone who went to Twitter with negative comments about Gabby’s hair. Let’s be real, writing mean, hurtful comments must stem from jelousy or plain ignorance. Hair clips and a slicked back pony tail for someone competing in any sport is more than acceptable. The hate is real ya’ll. Shameful.
