I Can’t Help but to Reminisce
I simply cannot believe it’s been almost a decade since the last time I participated in New York Fashion Week! If you were anywhere near New York in the early 2000s you probably remember Fashions Night Out – the only time of the year where you could drink, mingle and enjoy music in the stores of some of the biggest names in fashion. Since then, I’ve been to various NYFW events a handful of times while I was working at Macy’s but it’s been far too long.
Fast forward – it’s now 2025 and we’re back! But now, I’m going in a totally different capacity and in a lot of way, a reinvented person. I’m now a mother, full time content creator and entrepreneur – all titles I’m proud to hold but it did make me wonder – exactly what is this version Natasha’s style and how do I want to present it at THE New York Fashion Week. I feel like so much of what we think about when we think of current fashion trends (especially on the East Coast ) is edgy, bold and/or street style. Personally, I love a more classic chic look with subtle pops of color but is that good enough to rise to the occasion?
Queue the Imposter Syndrome
But then I had to check myself: “Hold on, Natasha – exactly what is personal style supposed to represent?” I had to remember that fashion is a lot like creating recipes (something I may know a thing or two about), yes there are some standard dos and dont’s but for the most part it’s a form of creative expression; something that should be approached with excitement, experimentation and curiosity – not fear.
So the more I think about it, I’m excited to see what comes to mind as I do a little shopping and pack my bags for New York. I can’t wait to be inspired, make some new friends, and come as the most authentic fashion forward version of myself.
If you’re going to any of the activations, shows or events be sure to drop a comment and tell me what your style inspo is – and if we bump into each other, be sure to say Hi!
