My husband was the one to really put me on Juicy Turkey Burgers back in the day. Like most of you, I thought turkey burgers were dry, bland, and honestly forgettable, but not these. These juicy turkey burgers are packed with flavor, incredibly tender, and perfect for summer grilling season.

The secret is adding a blend of onions and peppers along with a splash of milk as well as an egg to keep the burgers moist and flavorful while they cook. I know it sounds like it’s giving meatloaf but it’s not lol I promise! Once they hit the grill, they stay juicy on the inside while getting that smoky char on the outside that makes a grilled burger so good.

Topped with melted cheddar cheese and served on a soft brioche bun, these are the kind of burgers people go back for seconds of.

Ingredients

  • Ground turkey
  • Onion, finely diced
  • Bell pepper, finely diced
  • Egg
  • Splash of milk
  • Salt and pepper
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Smoked paprika
  • Brioche buns
  • Cheddar cheese
  • Iceberg lettuce
  • Tomato slices

Instructions

Add the ground turkey to a bowl along with the diced onion, peppers, egg, milk, and seasonings. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Form the mixture into hand-shaped burger patties.

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat and lightly oil the grates. Grill the turkey burgers until fully cooked through and juicy on the inside, flipping halfway through cooking.

During the last minute of cooking, top each burger with cheddar cheese and allow it to melt.

Serve on toasted brioche buns with iceberg lettuce and tomato if desired.

Tips for the Best Turkey Burgers

  • The splash of milk helps keep turkey burgers tender and juicy (I learned this from NYT cooking!)
  • Don’t overmix the turkey mixture or the burgers can become tough.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the burgers are fully cooked through.

The Ultimate Summer Burger

These juicy turkey burgers are easy, family-friendly, and perfect for Memorial Day, Fourth of July, or weeknight grilling. They’re lighter than traditional burgers but still packed with flavor and satisfying enough to make everyone happy at the table.
