NB: Why did you decide to go natural? How long have you been natural?
I went to Iraq in 2003. While there I embarked on a course of self discovery. During that exhibition I begin to feel as though my beauty did not extend beyond my hair. This discovery scared me into self consciousness. After nights of contemplation, I finally decided that by beauty came from within. With this I chopped off all my hair. What a great revelation. I have been beautifully natural for almost 8 years now!!!
NB: What are your natural hair goals?
I have no desire to ever perm my hair again. In its natural state, I wish to explore all of its many possibilities. In the next six months I want to shave my hair into a brush cut.
NB: Who is your natural hair crush??
I love Goapele’s hair and style. Although my hair looks nothing like hers!!
NB: Describe your personal style.
My personal style is easy going. Because I’m a grad student I love get up and go styles. I don’t mind sitting under the dryer for 2 hours as long as it can last for a month.
NB: Any tips for transitioners?
If I had any advice for a person transitioning, I would say “Just Do It!!” The longer you wait, the further you are from your beautiful natural hair!!
NB: What is your staple all natural hair product?
At the present I use organic root stimulator.
NB: One word that describes your natural hair.
