Natural Hair Crush of the Week: Callie Rivers

NB: Describe your curly hair.

My curly hair is wild, fun, soft, tight curled, and big. I love my curly hair!

NB: What are your natural hair goals?

My natural hair goals are to keep it healthy and maintain the length that it is currently at, I don’t want it any longer or shorter. I also want to continue to find different ways to wear it, curly or straight.

NB: Who is your natural hair crush??

My natural hair crush is my best friend Olivia Thomas. Her hair is absolutely beautiful and she barely has to do anything for it to look professionally done.  I also love Tracee Ellis Ross’s hair, it is so bold and looks so healthy!

NB: What is your current natural hair regimen? (What do you do to take care of your hair, ie washing, conditioning etc.)

Depends if it is curly or straight. When its curly I wash it probably more than the average because I work out and sweat almost everyday so I try to wash it ¾ times a week and every once in awhile I do a deep conditioning treatment with Moroccan Oil products. When its straight I put in Moroccan Oil treatment in first to keep my hair moisturized before I straighten it, and I don’t ever blow-dry my hair.

NB: Describe your personal style. I would say I am sporty – chic. I love a good pair of leggings but I also love to get dressed up, love heels and jewelry. Depends on the day I guess my style is very individualistic. My favorite colors are browns and deep greens.

NB: What are your favorite products to use while wearing your hair straight?

The only products I use when my hair is straight is Moroccan Oil and hair spray every once in awhile depending on how I am wearing it.

NB: What kind of flat iron do you use?

I use a Chi to straighten it and a GHB flat iron to curl it. I think the GHB is great for curling your hair because its easy and fast and there are no creases using it because the plates tilt.

NB: I know you work out and play volleyball often, what do you do to maintain your curls?

To maintain my curls I use mix chicks leave in conditioner and make sure to brush through it after its been tied up for long periods of times so it doesn’t get knotted.
