It’s National Chicken Wing Day, ya’ll! Did you know that was a thing? By now, if you’re a foodie, then you probably know that it’s a thing lol Around this time last year to celebrate National Chicken Wing Day, I shared my oven-baked jerk wings and they took off. I mean really took off. Hundreds of thousands of views and counting on Instagram and Tiktok. If you guys know me, then you know I love a good wing recipe. I have been obsessed with my air fryer since I got it and I wanted to do a special wing recipe for National Chicken Wing Day, so I came up with these flavor-packed air fryer chicken wings. Simple, pantry seasonings come together to make these wings taste like they have been marinating for days. They are delicious to the bone. I shared these with my family and they couldn’t stop raving about how good they were. I think it was just the combination of seasonings that set them apart. I sauced some up and I left some naked for my hubby to enjoy and he tore them up. You guys have to try this recipe.
Ingredients you’ll need for my air fryer chicken wings:
1 lb organic chicken wing pieces
1 tsp salt
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp chicken bouillon
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp turmeric
1 tsp of fish sauce
1 tbsp of baking powder
1 tbsp of olive oil
For Buffalo Truffle Sauce
1 tbsp butter
1/3 cup franks red hot buffalo sauce
1/3 cup of truffle hot sauce
How to make my air fryer chicken wings from scratch:
- Clean and pat dry chicken wings
- Combine seasonings and liberally apply to chicken and massage with your hands (use gloves, tumeric will stain your nails)
- Drizzle with olive oil then add fish sauce and baking powder and give it a final mix
- Add chicken wings in a single layer to the air fryer and fry on 375 degree’s for 15 minutes then flip
- Increase heat to 400 degrees and cook for another ten minutes
- Wings are done when internal temperature is 165 degrees and you can use a fork to hear the crispiness of the skin on the wings
- Leave wings naked and serve or toss in buffalo truffle sauce
How to make my buffalo truffle sauce:
In a small saucepan, melt butter on medium-low heat, then add franks red hot sauce and truffle hot sauce and bring to a simmer. Stir the ingredients together and simmer for 2 minutes.
Common question
Can I make this in the oven instead?
Yes, you can! I would cook the wings on a single layer in the oven at 425-450 degrees for 15-20 minutes on the top rack until golden brown and crispy on both sides. Be sure to flip halfway through and use a meat thermometer to check internal temperature has registered 165 degrees.
What air fryer do you use?
I suggest this one
