Sweet Simplicity in Every Bite
There’s something truly magical about the combination of oven-roasted sweet potatoes and the natural sweetness of dates. It’s a match made in heaven! This recipe takes the classic candied sweet potatoes to a whole new level by using wholesome and unrefined date-based sweeteners. Be sure to find date sugar and date syrup that uses one ingredient…dates!
The Sweet Power of Dates
Why choose dates, you might ask? Well, dates are not only nature’s candy, but they also bring a rich, caramel-like sweetness to the dish. Date sugar, made from finely ground dried dates, adds a subtle sweetness with a hint of molasses, while date syrup brings a luscious, liquid gold consistency that coats the sweet potatoes beautifully.
Oven Roasted Perfection
The secret to achieving the perfect candied sweet potatoes lies in the roasting process. Preheat your oven to 400 (I know that’s hottt, but trust the process), put the sweet potato halves flesh side down on a mixture of date sugar and syrup, and let the magic happen. The oven works its wonders, caramelizing the edges and creating a heavenly blend of sweet and savory flavors. The sweet potatoes cook up so tender and they have a candied date topping that’s incredible!
