Easy Oven Baked Ribs

No, you don’t need a grill to make the best tasting ribs–all you need is your oven and my secret seasoning combo! Sit back, relax and let the oven do all the work for you.

I love ribs and I have a few recipes to prove that point lol I always get inspired to pick up a pack of ribs when the weather starts getting warmer. I was in ALDI the other day and they have the best pork ribs at a great value. I decided to grab a pack and use half now and half later.

Since I was only cooking for my husband, myself and our son it didn’t make sense to make the large pack right away. That way, when the mood strikes for ribs again, I have some that I can easily thaw out and throw in the oven, no need for a store run.

The secret to fall off the bone, delicious tasting ribs is really the oven and time. I love slow cooking my ribs in the oven because the texture becomes so buttery and literally melts in your mouth. Now, I know some folks still like their ribs with a little bite to them and you can adjust the cook time accordingly if you like your ribs to stick to the bone a bit but if you’ve read this far something tells me you’re more like me and you want to be able to slide that bone right out of the meat with no effort.

You have found the right recipe for that! Let’s jump into my easy oven baked ribs recipe:

No, you don't need a grill to make the best tasting ribs--all you need is your oven and my secret seasoning combo! Sit back, relax and let the oven do all the work for you.

Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 3 hours 30 minutes
Total Time 3 hours 45 minutes

  • 2 lbs bone in pork ribs
  • 1 tsp liquid smoke
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Kosher salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • BBQ Sauce of choice, I like Sweet Baby Rays

  1. Heat oven to 275 degreees
  2. Clean your ribs and pat dry
  3. On the back of the ribs remove the membrane with a pairing knife and discard
  4. Rub a thin layer of mustard on the front and back of the ribs
  5. Combine seasoning blend with liquid smoke and sprinkle all over the ribs front and back
  6. Pat the seasoning blend into the ribs so it sticks
  7. Cover the ribs in foil ensuring you seal it so no steam escapes while cooking
  8. Cook the ribs on a baking tray for 2 1/2 to 3 hours (time will vary depending on the thickness of your ribs) Check ribs for desired tenderness after 2 1/2 hours
  9. After ribs are removed from the oven add bbq sauce to taste and cook for another 15-30 minutes at 400 degrees to get a nice char on the skin of the ribs and ensure that the bbq sauce sticks (this will create a bark that resembles the grill!)
  10. Remove ribs form oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes, then serve

If you don't eat pork ribs use beef ribs!
