my ultimate fourth of july menu

Creating a July 4th Menu can be equal parts exciting and overwhelming. For me, the holiday has always been less about the date on the calendar and more about what happens around the table. It’s one of those long summer weekends when family, friends, and neighbors have a little more time to slow down, gather outside, and share a really good meal.

So if you’re looking for July 4th menu ideas, here’s everything I’d serve.

Start with a Refreshing Summer Drink

Every holiday gathering needs a signature drink, and my Watermelon Pineapple Fresca is always the first thing on the menu.

It’s cold, refreshing, naturally sweet, and perfect as a mocktail or easily turned into a cocktail for the adults.

Prep Ahead Whenever You Can

One of my favorite hosting tips is to make as much as possible the day before.

That’s when I’m cooking my low-and-slow oven BBQ ribs. They’re saucy, rich, and fall-off-the-bone tender, which means less time in the kitchen and more time enjoying the people who came to gather.

Fire Up the Grill

Once everyone starts arriving, it’s time to light the grill.

My Jerk Bourbon Peach Wings bring the perfect mix of sweet, smoky, and spicy flavors, and they’re always one of the first things to disappear.

Right alongside them, I’m making smashed burgers loaded with cheese and bacon. Crispy edges, melty cheese, and juicy beef are always a crowd favorite.

For the hot dogs, I like giving a cookout classic a little upgrade with my Puff Pastry Hot Dogs. They’re buttery, flaky, golden, and so much more fun than a traditional bun.

Don’t Forget the Seafood

I always like making sure there’s something special for my seafood lovers.

This year, that means baked shrimp scampi and crab-stuffed salmon. They add a little variety to the table while still fitting right in with the rest of the cookout menu.

The Side Dishes Everyone Comes Back For

No holiday spread feels complete without plenty of homemade sides.

First, I’m making my creamy roux-style mac and cheese because every cookout deserves a pan of extra creamy mac.

For something cold, my Southern potato salad delivers that nostalgic flavor that reminds me of summer gatherings growing up.

I’m also making a small batch of oven-baked BBQ beans because someone always asks for them when I don’t.

To balance everything out, collard greens add the perfect homemade touch alongside all the barbecue.

And because I like adding a little fun to the table, I’m making beet-dyed deviled eggs. They’re colorful, unexpected, and always become a conversation starter.

Finish with Something Sweet

I’m ending the meal with peach cobbler.

Served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, it’s the kind of dessert that brings everyone back to the kitchen for one last bite before the day is over.
